Well, its that time of year again, we've booked the venue, browbeaten the cast, begged and borrowed some kind of set and now we just need an audience. That's where you come in. Just to recap, here is a little history lesson that will explain how we got ourselves into this situation.
In early 2007, 28 strangers started a course called Mastery & Service. In the middle of the course we were told that we had to complete a project — it didn't matter what we did, provided it made a difference and we completed it as a team. Oh, and by the way, we only had 9 weeks from start to finish. The result was the first Theatresports® fundraiser for NAPCAN. As well as being a thoroughly entertaining evening, the event raised just over $28,300 for a truly worthwhile cause. The second show in May 2008, impro tropicano, was equally successful raising $29,290.03 — another fantastic result from a one-night show.
This year's show is shaping up to be quite a treat. Once again, we are in the safe hands of Lyn Pierse as Director. Lyn not only manages to pull a show out of thin air, and with a non-existent budget, she does it with incredible style. We are very grateful for her support. We would also like to acknowledge the cast and crew — all of whom give up their free time to support us — thank you.
But of course, we can't forget the people who come out, year after year, to watch the show. Without you, there is no show. On behalf of NAPCAN, we would like to thank you for your continued support. We would love to see you again on 3rd October, 7.30pm, at the Parade Theatre @ NIDA. Not only will you leave with a smile of your face — but you will have made a contribution to help support those people who are least able to support themselves — abused and neglected kids of Australia.
